Aurora Community Association
Call out for committee members
Online Meeting 21st October 2020
Do you enjoy free social events in your local community?
Do you have great ideas for social events but need support to help make them a reality?
Your local Aurora Community Association is here to facilitate such events!
Aideed Jama (Treasurer), Cara Horner (Ordinary Member) and Sri Thulasiraman (Ordinary Member) were elected to the ACA Committee on the 5th September 2020, however they need more involvement from the community to keep the ACA operating and running community events. Can you join the team and help out?
The Aurora Community Association needs to find a Secretary and a couple more committee members to ensure the groups viability. This online meeting has been arranged to give interested community members another opportunity to volunteer to get involved. Find out more about the roles at the meeting and have your questions answered. No prior committee experience is necessary and it’s a great way to build your skills and experience on your resume.
Date: Wednesday 21st October
Time: 7pm-8pm
Via: Zoom- link provided day before meeting to registered attendees
Agenda: Discussion of committee roles and time commitments; committee member nominations; next steps; ideas for events and activities if enough interest and support.
If the ACA can’t find a Secretary then the Association will have to close after 11 years of serving the area of Epping North/ Wollert! This would be a shame for the community, as it takes a lot of work to set up this kind of incorporated association. Maybe the ACA is no longer of value to an ever-evolving community or maybe we just need to reimagine what it does?
Committee members can have a say in the future direction, commitments and activities of the ACA. The current Statement of Purposes can be changed or simplified, the Association’s name changed to one more meaningful and appealing. Events and activities can be tailored to the needs and interests of the community. The ACA can still support local advocacy needs on concerns like internet access, roads, community safety, infrastructure etc when required. A functioning community association allows for more effective communication with local politicians and important local organisations and is more likely to be successful in advocacy than individuals working in isolation.
If you wish to nominate before the event or to discuss anything prior, please email enquiry@aurora.asn.au and someone will get back to you.
Regards
